Johnny Gosch' StoryJohnny Gosch

Before dawn, on the morning of Sunday September 5 1982, Johnny Gosch left his home in the suburb of West Des Moines, for his paper route.

Johnny usually woke his father to go with him to help with the route, but on the day he went missing, Johnny took the family dachshund, Gretchen, with him instead.

The last sighting of Johnny was made by other paper carriers for The Des Moines Register,  who reported seeing Johnny at the paper drop, picking up his newspapers.

A report was given by a paper carrier named Mike, that he and Johnny were approached by a stocky man in a blue two-toned Ford Fairlane, which had Iowa plates who asked them for directions. Mike reported that Johnny had told him the man had made him uncomfortable. Mike also reported that as Johnny had headed home, he had noticed another man following Johnny.

When last seen Johnny was wearing blue rubber thong sandals, warm up exercise pants, and a white sweatshirt reading "Kim's Academy". Johnny is decribed as white - at the time of his disappearance he was 12 years old - he would now be 38 years old -  estimated height 5'7ft - weight 140lbs - light brown hair - blue eyes - he has a freckled face and a gap inbetween his front teeth.

If anyone has any information regarding the wherabouts of Johnny Gosch please contact West Des Moines Police Dept. (Iowa) - Missing Persons Unit - 1-515-223-3211 or Your Local FBI
